Razzle, not picking a fight here but the last compliment I would pay to Lance Armstrong is that he is honest, considering the big lie he has fed us during the course of his professional career. Not sure this makes up for it!

Seeing as it's you, DJ, I'll retract my comments.
Watching people peddle really fast, faster than the other people, for longer, is definitely more entertaining than watching football, because they fall off into barbed wire sometimes.
The fact they are in lycra adds to the appeal.

Watching football is infinitely more boring.
The TdF is one of the hardest events on the calender and one of the most entertaining.
Most footballers go down like they've been shot at the slightest touch then you have riders like Johnny Hoogerland who ended up wrapped in barbed wire at the side of the road, he was cut to ribbons but got back on his bike to finish the stage.

As some have said, regardless of cheating, he still cycled all those thousands of miles over all those tours.
Most of the peleton were doing it as well, not that it makes it right.
His biggest mistake was his comeback.
Hopefully the sport is much cleaner... with exceptions of Astana the cheating cunts!!!

To win the tour 7 times is unbelievable even if he was taking drugs...as everyone else was so it was a level playing field.

Armstrong has always divided opinion, I admirer the way he beat cancer, his drive and talent as a cyclist, but yeah he was ruthless. I had a mate who survived cancer a few years back, it changed him, his attitude was fuck it, i;'ll do what i wanna do, when i wanna do it, fuck everyone else, he became shall we say...'a bit of a cunt' but can you blame him?Armstrong i believe developed that shame attitutde/toughness perhaps, he mentioned something to that effect in his book. Drugs, transfusions, whatever...you still have to put in the training, peddle and stay on the bike, most of the field were doing similar stuff (Wiggins wasnt even riding back then...so thats a silly comment - BD).
A couple of riders who came out and said when they stopped doping, they dropped down to 140th or whatever and couldnt even keep up with the pelaton and couldnt get a ride in a team anywhere, so just goes to show how endemic it was. It was the whole sport that was wrong, not just one man.
